The Women Winning Political Leaders of Tomorrow (PLOT) Training Program is designed to help you acquire the tools and connections needed to be a political leader in Minnesota. PLOT serves as an entry point for energized, pro-choice Minnesotans who are interested in a career in politics, especially those who have not yet volunteered or worked on a campaign!
PLOT invests in the next generation of political strategists, volunteers, and candidates in Minnesota through education and training. The Women Winning team supports and develops PLOT participants throughout the program by providing:
- In-depth training in campaign communication, fundraising, fieldwork, and strategy
- Professional development and networking opportunities
- Personalized check-ins and problem-solving coaching

‘We Have Not Finished the Work’: Minnesotans Celebrate Trans Visibility Day at the Capitol

Hundreds of Minnesotans gathered at the Capitol to celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility, praising the state’s status as a refuge destination for transgender people. Advocates also acknowledged, however, that Minnesota still has a long way to go to fully support the LGBTQ community. Trans advocates and elected officials came together on Wednesday, about one year after state lawmakers passed and Gov. Tim Walz signed a bill protecting people seeking or providing gender-affirming care in Minnesota. Despite the milestone, Rep. Leigh Finke, said this legislative session has been more challenging in many ways
“It’s much more difficult for us to be able to keep in people’s minds that this vulnerable community continues to need our help,” said Finke, Minnesota’s first openly transgender legislator.

In Response to Rift, Duluth Med Students Reach out to Trans Community

Instead of listening to another person misgender them last fall on a bonding tour across the state, Duluth Rep. Liish Kozlowski simply told the driver of a bus full of lawmakers to pull over. Kozlowski is undergoing hormone therapy, and being misgendered "was really brutal," they said, especially with "the backdrop of a national attack on trans and queer folks" with hundreds of bills across the country "seeking to literally relegate us to the coffin or to the closets."
Kozlowski shared this story with more than 100 people at a gender-affirming care event at Duluth's Peace United Church of Christ on Thursday. Organized by medical students and others, it's a response to a growing rift within the Duluth campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School, where some of its students formed a Catholic group that opposes gender-affirming care for minors. Such care includes medications to suppress puberty and hormones for older teens, according to the group's website. The Duluth campus, where most students stay for two years before moving on to the Twin Cities or a rural town for training, focuses on family medicine in rural areas and Native American communities. The rural focus has some fellow students worrying how those beliefs — contrary to their curriculum — will affect future patient care, especially when it involves gender and in areas where provider choices are slim.

Florida Supreme Court Upholds State's 15-week Abortion Ban, but Voters Will Soon Have a Say

On Monday, the Florida Supreme Court cleared the way for the state to ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, before many women know they are pregnant, while also giving voters a chance to remove restrictions in November. The court, which was reshaped by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, ruled 6-1 to uphold the state's ban on most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, meaning a ban on six weeks could soon take effect. But under a separate 4-3 ruling, the court allowed a ballot measure to go to voters that would enshrine abortion rights in Florida's constitution.
The court's decisions could be pivotal in the presidential race and congressional contests this year by driving abortion-rights supporters to the polls. Since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, voters in every state with an abortion-related ballot measure have favored the side backed by abortion rights supporters.
