AMAZING NEWS: The Biden Administration has announced they are banning ongoing use of asbestos, a substance once common in roofing and cement and still lurking in old buildings, which has been known to cause severe health implications, including lung cancer.
At the heart of this victory is Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon, who first started championing this issue years ago by introducing the Ban Asbestos Now Act. Once again, SEEC Members are ahead of these issues and leading the fight for real progress.
The harmful effects of asbestos cannot be overstated. Construction and manufacturing workers were unknowingly exposed to this carcinogen for decades. Families have lost loved ones, and thousands of people are still suffering from toxic exposure.
Banning asbestos is a crucial step towards rectifying past wrongs, safeguarding public health, and acknowledging those who have been affected.
