Friend — Later this month, Tribal and local leaders and many of our national monuments partners are headed to Washington, D.C. to deliver hundreds of thousands of petitions from all over the country to show the Biden-Harris administration the widespread support for more national monument designations.
We need every last one of our members from the environmental movement to add their name right now.
Some of the last wild places across the U.S. are depending on your support, and President Biden has a huge opportunity to cement his conservation legacy by designating more national monuments.
Add your name to urge President Biden to take action to protect millions of acres of public lands in places like Chuckwalla in the California Desert, the Dolores Canyons in Colorado, and the Owyhee Canyonlands in Oregon, and many more.
Please take action today — it only takes a minute to help us reach our goal of 5,000 signatures before Friday >>
A few weeks ago, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the designations of Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range National Monuments with light projections in Washington, D.C. We thanked the Biden-Harris administration for protecting national monuments and urged them to “Make 2024 Monumental.”
This petition delivery event is our next step to demonstrate to the Biden-Harris administration the widespread support and enthusiasm that exists for national monuments. After President Biden took office, he set a
major goal of protecting 30% of U.S. lands and waters by 2030. Achieving the goal known as 30x30 — which has been a major focus of LCV’s work over the last three years — would mean doubling land conservation in our country. Scientists say it’s
absolutely essential to getting climate change under control and preventing mass wildlife extinctions.
The Biden administration is protecting our public lands and waters at a historic rate — protecting more acres of public lands as national monuments during its first term than any presidential administration in the 21st century. President Biden has protected more than 26 million acres of lands and waters in the U.S., including sacred and ecologically significant lands like Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni-Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument in Arizona and Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in Nevada.
Let’s keep this momentum going!
Friend, we can’t miss this chance to protect more of our nation’s precious landscapes, preserve biodiversity, honor sacred homelands, and expand access to public lands to more communities.
Historic conservation action will only happen if people like you speak up.
Join us in calling on President Biden to protect even more public lands and make history today. Our deadline is Friday >>
Thank you for making your voice heard, Friend.
Onward,
America Fitzpatrick
