Hi John!

In some of the most important climate and clean air actions in the history of the United States, the EPA has set new vehicle emissions standards for cars and trucks that will slash tailpipe pollution, protect our health and address the climate crisis.

This incredible news happened because of you, John. EDF members sent in thousands of comments, pushing the EPA to write and enact the strongest vehicle emissions standards possible.

Both of the EPA’s vehicle standards will put the pedal to the metal as the U.S. races to achieve cleaner, healthier air for everyone. EDF Executive Director Amanda Leland put it best,

“These new standards will mean healthier days ahead for us all. [They] will cut over seven billion tons of climate pollution – that’s more than all U.S. greenhouse gas pollution last year. [They] will slash deadly soot and reduce smog. That means fewer asthma attacks, less heart disease and longer lives. The reality is clean cars [and trucks] will save kids.”

Even with these important steps to protect people and the planet, certain members of Congress are still listening more to the oil and gas companies than their own constituents. In the next few months, there will be dozens of bills attacking these new rules.

We need to get ahead of those attacks by making sure Congress understands that Americans want cleaner air and climate progress. Reach out now to your legislators and tell them to protect new vehicle emissions standards. [link removed]

EDF found that in its first 30 years, the reduced tailpipe pollution from both vehicle emissions standards will prevent thousands of premature deaths and hospital visits and millions of asthma attacks and lost days of school and work.
