John — there’s a local elected body in Texas you’ve probably never heard of — the Brownsville Navigation District Commission. This commission plays a pivotal role in bringing some of the biggest polluters and most hazardous jobs to the valley.

There's an upcoming election for Commissioner seats that could dramatically shift this dynamic.

You’ve heard us talk about Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects a lot lately. That’s because LNG is the next big climate fight — it’s just another form of dirty energy being pushed by Big Fossil Fuels to slow our transition to a true, clean energy economy.

Here’s what’s going on in Brownsville: There is a colossal LNG project looming. This project requires landowners to sell or face eminent domain — and poses a significant threat to our environment and the health and safety of the community. The outcome of this Brownsville election could decide the fate of the Rio Grande LNG project and set a precedent for environmental policies nationwide.

In other words: this election is a big frickin’ deal.

That’s why we’re stepping in. The Jane Fonda Climate PAC is proud to endorse the Port for All slate — a trio of climate champions dedicated to leading the charge for a cleaner, safer Texas. If they win, they could gain a majority on the Port board (which has a total of 5 seats!) and put the community on a path to a clean energy future.

Your donation today will directly contribute to our efforts to mobilize voters, support our endorsed candidates, and make our voices heard loud and clear. Can we count on your donation to help these climate champions & many more win big? >>> [[link removed]]

Meet the Port for All Slate:

🌍 Patrick Everitt — With his expertise as an environmental investigator, Patrick is dedicated to shielding our community from pollution and spearheading the transition to renewable energy sources at the port.

🌍 Andres Rios — As a CFO with an extensive business background, Andres brings a wealth of experience in fostering clean economic development and will advocate for a just transition to a sustainable economy.

🌍 Josette Cruz Hinojosa — An activist with a proven track record against LNG plants, Josette's leadership promises to break the cycle of fracking and advocate for healthier energy alternatives.

These climate champions will reject and impose strict conditions on projects like the Rio Grande LNG that compromise our environment and health. They will advocate for the rights of landowners against the injustices of eminent domain for pipeline construction, and they will champion clean, sustainable jobs and energy solutions for Texas.

But they can’t win this fight alone. With your help, we can usher in a new era of environmental sustainability for Brownsville and set an example for the nation to follow.

Will you donate today to support our urgent mission to elect climate champions, hold the fossil fuel industry accountable, and build a cleaner, safer Texas? [[link removed]]
