Every minute, over one million plastic water bottles are sold globally. And they end up in a landfill, in our waterways, and even in our food and water.
This rampant plastic pollution is toxic — poisoning our bodies and planet — all so the bottled water industry can generate a huge profit.
We are holding a magnifying glass up to the plastic water bottle industry. Be sure to check your email as we highlight a different risk to show you how much your health, our planet, and chance at a livable future are threatened by their greed. And what your generosity is doing to push back.
Bottled Water Danger #1: Weaker Regulations.
Bottled water companies market their water as safer than tap water. But in the U.S., bottled water is actually under weaker safety regulations than tap water. It is tested less frequently than municipal tap water, allowing contamination to escape detection longer.
Bottling and storage processes can also pollute bottled water with heavy metals, benzene, pesticides, pathogens, and parasites.
You have the power to curb plastic pollution and fight for a plastic-free world. Thank you for fighting for our future, health, and planet. Keep an eye on your inbox to learn what bottled water contamination danger #2 is.
