The Badger Institute’s policy work, journalism and advocacy helped spur pivotal changes this past legislative session to give Wisconsinites more freedom and greater opportunity.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and partners, we produced reams of research, championed many policy reforms, helped kill bad policies, and were part of numerous legislative victories:
A pivotal part of the historic, successful effort to close the funding gap between Parental Choice, public charter and traditional public schools, we made sure more money will follow children to quality classrooms.
Dental therapy, a free-market solution we pursued for years, was signed into law by the Governor and will help hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites obtain dental care at no added expense to taxpayers.
We led the reforms to get police back in Milwaukee Public Schools and increase the number of police positions in Milwaukee as part of the shared revenue package.
Derailing The Hop: We led on the issue to push for Milwaukee sales tax legislation to bar any of the revenue going to streetcar expansion.
Adequate pay for prosecutors and public defenders resulting in swifter justice for crime victims and a reduction of enormous case backlogs.
Leading the charge on two critical constitutional amendments to: 1) Strip the governor of his partial veto authority and 2) Allow legislators to oversee federal grant dollars.
Fighting to let Wisconsinites easily use Direct Primary Care without triggering insurance complications.
We’re proud of our success in Madison. But that’s just part of what we do. Each Friday, we send out research, analysis, stories, videos and opinion pieces informed by conservative thought via our Top Picks email.
