Urge Ajay Banga and the World Bank to take concrete and transparent steps to advance three key climate priorities.
TAKE ACTION NOW [[link removed]]
Climate champion,
It’s been nearly one year since Ajay Banga became the new president of the World Bank.
Although the World Bank has made significant strides to tackle the climate crisis and stop direct financing of new coal-fired power plants, the bank continues to fund (as of 2022) dangerous oil and gas projects.
Let’s be clear: We can’t afford to let the World Bank further contribute to the climate crisis by giving millions of dollars in handouts to the fossil fuels driving the problem in the first place.
Take action: Urge World Bank President Banga to stop financing fossil fuel projects and expand debt-free lending to spur an equitable clean energy transition for the Global South. [[link removed]]

We commend the World Bank for boosting funding for climate-related projects up to an expected 45% of annual lending by 2025. We’re also encouraged that the bank has made new commitments to assist countries in the Global South facing natural disasters that are more frequent and intense due to climate change.
While President Banga’s tenure has been a significant upgrade from his predecessor, the bank must do more to reshape climate finance globally.
Join Climate Reality in calling on World Bank President Banga to:
*End all financing for fossil fuel projects worldwide.
*Use World Bank lending to accelerate a just transition to clean energy in the Global South and beyond.
*Ensure Global South nations have access to the fair credit they need to build healthy and resilient net-zero economies.

Together, we have the power to transform the World Bank’s financing of energy projects worldwide, but we need your voice.
Thanks for speaking out,
