April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Recent statistics underscore the urgency of our sexual violence prevention and intervention work: RAINN reports that an American is assaulted every 68 seconds, and studies show over 53% of women and over 29% of men reported experiencing contact sexual violence. Moreover, marginalized communities, including people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities, face disproportionately higher rates of sexual assault.

These statistics are not just numbers; they represent the lived experiences of millions of individuals. SAAM serves as a platform to raise awareness, challenge harmful attitudes and behaviors, and promote survivor-centered support systems. By fostering open conversations, advocating for comprehensive prevention strategies, and supporting survivors, we can work towards a future where sexual violence is eradicated, and all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.

In honor of SAAM and leading up to Denim Day (4/24/24!), we are launching our Dollars for Denim campaign to raise money to support direct services for survivors of sexual assault and their families. Every dollar counts and there are several easy ways to get involved and spread the word. Help us today!

Organize a Denim Day event at your workplace, school, place of worship, local business or on Zoom. Invite others to wear denim, collect donations and support sexual violence intervention and prevention services.

Start your own fundraiser on Facebook or Instagram, naming Peace Over Violence as the beneficiary. It’s a convenient way to spread the word and raise funds.


** Become a Crowdfunder
