Hey John,
Did you know that all your personal data, including your phone number and home address, are for sale? They might even be on Google’s front page. If this makes you feel uneasy, it should.
Thanks to data brokers, your info is only a click away.
Data brokers harvest data from the apps and websites we use—and even our rent or mortgage info—then resell it to anyone willing to pay for it.1,2 There are many data broker services and they’re almost impossible to opt out of.3 Last week, we launched a new campaign that calls on the FTC to create an opt-out system like the National Do Not Call Registry—this time for data brokers.4 The registry would allow you to make a single request to delete your info from data broker websites permanently.

We’ve had a great initial response to the launch, but we need your help to grow this movement. A big part of this effort will be building bridges with different communities harmed by data brokers, from abuse survivors to elderly folks wading through AI scams. We need more resources to take this advocacy to the next level.
Can you chip in to help us ramp up our campaign?
With your support, we believe we can end data broker exploitation and create a viable path to a long overdue opt-out system that keeps you and your loved ones' data safe.
