We are adjusting our newsletter moving towards lean critical updates and that we will be reaching out to members in the coming days regarding how we can further offer support during this situation. |
CHBA BC
As everyone is aware, we are well into the pandemic outbreak of COVID-19 across both B.C., Canada, and most of the world. While we all are still adjusting to the current reality, CHBA BC is looking for feedback from members on the best steps moving forward on how we communicate with you.
Now, more than ever, it is critical that there is an open and transparent flow of information regarding COVID-19, not only for ensuring worksite safety, but also to inform you of the government resources that are available for economic support.
We would like to hear back from you on what is working, what might not be working, and what we should be including more of. Your feedback is critical to ensure we are keeping you up-to-date with what information means most to you.
The survey itself is only seven (7) questions and should take approximately three (3) minutes to complete.
You can complete the survey here.
The deadline for the survey is end of day Friday, April 3rd, 2020.

Government of Canada
The federal government has announced measures to financially support Canadians and businesses that are affected by the pandemic.
- Providing small business with wage subsidies: The announcement of a 75 per cent wage subsidy for qualifying businesses, for up to 3 months, retroactive to March 15, 2020. This will help businesses to keep and return workers to the payroll.
- The $25 billion program will provide interest-free loans of up to $40,000 to small businesses and not-for-profits, to help cover their operating costs during a period where their revenues have been temporarily reduced. To qualify, these organizations will need to demonstrate they paid between $50,000 to $1 million in total payroll in 2019. Repaying the balance of the loan on or before December 31, 2022 will result in loan forgiveness of 25 per cent (up to $10,000).
- Waiving the one-week waiting period for people who are in quarantine or have been directed to self-isolate and are claiming for Employment Insurance (EI) sickness benefits.
- Enhancing the Work-Sharing Program to help employers who are experiencing a downturn in business due to COVID-19, and their workers.
BC Hydro is continuing to manage new customer connections and reconnections through our normal processes, but due to current conditions some work will take longer than usual. In an effort to protect our employees, contractors, and customers, we will not be completing optional upgrades or alterations at this time. BC Hydro will also not be completing any work where it would require outages to other customers.
