Dear John,
What we’ve most feared is coming true.
Trump and his allies are exploiting the COVID-19 chaos, trying to turn it into a payday for polluters.
Here are just a few spectacularly bad steps from the past few days:
- Republican lawmakers are encouraging dangerous oil drilling in the name of COVID relief, pushing for cheaper plundering of our public waters.
- Trump’s EPA completed its rollback of Obama’s clean car standards, which will fuel climate disaster and jeopardize people’s respiratory health -- in the midst of a global pandemic that especially endangers people with respiratory illnesses.
We urgently need your help to fight back against these callous attacks on our health and lives: Rush $10 to Friends of the Earth now.

Every day, brave people on the front lines of this crisis -- including health workers, sanitation workers, food service workers and farmworkers -- are risking their health and their lives for us. Here at Friends of the Earth, we’re grateful for these immense sacrifices.
In a country with so many resources, it’s unconscionable that Trump isn’t using basic powers like the Defense Production Act to produce and distribute urgently needed masks, ventilators, and other medical supplies.
Trump is letting people die, ignoring the pleas of frontline workers and communities and instead listening to polluters who want to exploit this crisis. In fact, Trump’s Administration is protecting polluters in mind-boggling new ways.
Trump’s EPA wants to ease up on environmental regulations and completely reverse progress we’ve already made, including weakening air pollution protections for U.S. cars -- which would sacrifice our climate and our health (especially our respiratory health!) for auto and oil industry CEOs.
Another way the Trump Administration is trying to sneak in a handout to Big Oil, just in the last few days: The Interior Department is now considering a royalty relief package that would encourage dangerous offshore drilling.
They’re hoping that amidst all the confusion and under the guise of a national emergency, we won’t notice. But we’re paying attention, and with your help, we’ve been fighting back.
We urgently need your support so we can protect people and our planet from Trump’s deadly agenda. Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth today.

We’re joining with other groups in the progressive movement to flex our collective muscle and push forward united demands for a just recovery, where workers and people are put first, not corporations.
Already before the COVID-19 crisis, we were fighting for our lives and a livable planet. Now we need to come together to fight multiple crises at once, because we don’t have time to spare.
Our work here at Friends of the Earth is more needed now than ever, and we need your support more than ever. We can’t let up on our regular crucial campaigning, but we’re pivoting to take on additional fights now, too. We’re working round-the-clock to protect people and our planet.
Big Polluters aren’t slowing down, and neither are we. Help make sure we can rise to this challenge: Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth today.
