CELEBRATING Jane Goodall & Chimpanzees If there was ever a hero for animals, it’s Jane Goodall. AAVS joins advocates around the world in celebrating her 90th birthday! While she has devoted her life to advocating for all animals, Dr. Goodall is best known for her groundbreaking research with chimpanzees at Gombe National Park in Tanzania. She was the first to document that chimpanzees make and use tools, and she challenged the status quo, entering a field of science then dominated by men and describing her chimp observations using what were once considered uniquely human emotions and behaviors. Like Dr. Goodall, chimpanzees hold a special place in our hearts, and AAVS proudly supports several sanctuaries caring for chimps who were once used in research, through our Sanctuary Fund. If you also care about chimpanzees, you can help by donating to the Sanctuary Fund today—100% of your donation will go directly to sanctuaries! |
