NYYRC Signs Open Letter To President Trump Calling for an Investigation into China’s Handling of Coronavirus

The New York Young Republican Club was proud to partner with the Media Research Center and other conservative leaders in releasing an open letter to President Donald J. Trump.

The letter demands “a more formal investigation to uncover the truth” behind the actions of the Chinese government following the rise of the coronavirus from Wuhan.

The letter blasted the behavior of the communist China government for having engaged in “outright and extreme politicization of this horrible disease is outrageous, unacceptable, and dangerous.”

Later, the letter added: “None of this is being reported as it ought to be in American media. Instead, the media are creating panic and blaming your administration. All of this could have been prevented if the Chinese government had merely exercised its responsibility in containing this disease and sharing more information sooner.”

Statement on Trade Negotiations with China

The New York Young Republican Club understands how difficult it has been for U.S. negotiators to secure commitments from China to change their predatory trade practices that have led to the United States’ unprecedented $5 trillion cumulative bilateral trade deficit in goods with China and the loss of a staggering 3.7 million jobs, largely in manufacturing. The administration deserves credit for recognizing our nation’s flawed economic relationship with China and for taking strong measures to prompt negotiations. The use of tariffs in response to China’s litany of unfair trade practices have proven to be an effective and appropriate tool to trigger negotiations with China.

Statement in Support of the Transit Infrastructure Vehicle Security Act

The New York Young Republican Club supports the Transit Infrastructure Vehicle Security Act.

China is aiming to take over U.S. transit rail and electric bus manufacturing as part of its “Made in China 2025” plan. The Chinese state-owned company China Railway Rolling Stock Corp. (CRRC) already has nabbed contracts to build transit rail in cities like Boston, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the state-controlled electric bus maker Build Your Dreams (BYD) landed the winning bid to build buses for other cities.

Adopting a Free Speech Policy

Because the New York Young Republican Club is committed to free and open inquiry in all matters, it guarantees all members of New York Young Republican Club the broadest possible latitude to speak, write, listen, challenge, and learn. Except insofar as limitations on that freedom are necessary to the functioning of New York Young Republican Club, the Club fully respects and supports the freedom of all members of the Club “to discuss any problem that presents itself.”
