Antisemitism and extremism are growing on the European continent. Populist parties are gaining strength and even winning elections. Hard-won democratic gains are being temporarily suspended with vague assurances of when they will be reinstated. These trends pose profound questions about the strength and resilience of liberal democracies and the post-World War II world order. Where is the concept of liberal democracy heading and what does this mean for future of the European Union? How is antisemitism linked to these trends? Will liberal democracy in Europe be another victim of the coronavirus crisis?
