Supreme Court to hear landmark case involving mixed-status family

Our upcoming case, representing California civil rights attorney Sandra Muñoz and her husband Luis Asensio Cordero, will be heard at the Supreme Court later this month in a landmark case that could impact the future of thousands of U.S. citizens in mixed-status marriages.

Transgender woman speaks out about abuses in ICE detention

Vicky, a transgender woman and NIJC client, has been unjustly detained by ICE for more than two years without cause while her mental health has declined.

Appeals court blocks dangerous anti-immigrant law 

Shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court approved Texas' dangerous anti-immigrant Senate Bill 4 to take effect, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals reviewed its constitutionality and blocked the law once again, for now. 

IN THE NEWS: NIJC senior policy analyst Azadeh Erfani responded to the higher court's ruling: "With this decision, the U.S. Supreme Court opens the doors for one of the most extremist and anti-immigrant policies in U.S. history to go into effect at the state level. SB4 codifies racial profiling and criminalizes people seeking safety in the United States."

Congratulations to NIJC client Camilo for successfully securing asylum! He can now embark on a new chapter in the U.S. after facing hardships and prejudice in Colombia due to his sexual orientation.
