Deadline Extended ? Volunteer Recognition Program
Volunteer Rec_Extended Deadline

In honor of ?National Volunteer Recognition Month? in April, the Board of Commissioners is accepting nominations of volunteers who make valuable contributions to the community. Chosen volunteers will be honored with a reception.??

We need your help to find these deserving individuals! Let us know of an outstanding volunteer who resides in, or whose volunteer efforts benefit, Macomb County. Two volunteers will be chosen per district. From these volunteers, the Board will also recognize a special ?Senior Volunteer of the Year.? This award was initiated by the Board?s Older Adult Advisory Committee as a means to give special recognition to people over 60 who volunteer in the community.

Join the Board of Commissioners for a family-friendly community drop-in bicycle ride, hosted by Commissioner VanSyckel! This free event provides riders the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while emphasizing health and community. Participants may choose between two ride lengths: 2 miles and 4 miles.

Join the Board of Commissioners and Bodhi Seed Yoga and Wellness Studio for its 9th Annual Yoga at the Hill. This free event takes place at Freedom Hill County Park under the pavilions - rain or shine!??

Pre-registrants will receive a t-shirt and all attendees are eligible for giveaways, including raffle prizes donated by Commissioners, supporting their local businesses.??

Classes accommodate all levels, including children and those who may need modifications.

County Commissioner Vacancies

Section 4.8.2 of the Macomb County Charter states:

"?A vacancy shall be filled by appointment of a registered and qualified elector of the district in which he or she is to be appointed within 30 days by a Majority of Commissioners. The appointee shall take office upon filing the oath of office with the County Clerk after the meeting at which the appointment is made.?"

In the event that a vacancy occurs on the County Board of Commissioners as a result of the April 16th election, the following process will be used:


* The application period will be announced and open to all candidates on April 17th.
* Applications will be due by May 1st at 5 p.m.
* Public interviews will take place at the BOC?s Government Oversight Committee meeting on May 8th.
* The vote for appointment will be held at the May 16th Full Board meeting.

It is pothole season in Macomb County!?

The Department of Roads takes a comprehensive approach to managing Macomb County?s roadways and crews perform maintenance year round. The quickest and most efficient way to report a pothole is to submit a service request for road maintenance at roads.macombgov.org. [ [link removed] ]

Please include the road and cross streets to provide our crews with the most accurate location possible. Requests are sent to the nearest maintenance service center to review and manage the issue. The Department of Roads has four service centers located throughout the county in Clinton Township, New Haven, Shelby Township, and Washington Township.

If you're contacting the Department of Roads regarding an emergency road condition or immediate safety concern, please call 586-463-8671. In the event of an emergency, please contact 911.
