On 20 March, we published research commissioned to understand the lived experience of ethnic minority and international medical graduate practitioners who are the subject of performance concerns reported to our Practitioner Performance Advice service. Alongside this we published our response to the findings of the research, which includes a commitment to tackle themes of discrimination and unfairness, working alongside our healthsystem partners.

News Welcome Anu Ralhan: Our new NED [[link removed]]

We were delighted to welcome Anu Ralhan as our new non-executive director (NED) in early March. Anu has been a valuable and insightful member of our Reserving and Pricing Committee for the last three years. Read more about this appointment [[link removed]].

Early Notification Scheme: Process Update [[link removed]]

We are committed to improving engagement with families who are potentially impacted by the Early Notification (EN) Scheme. We have changed how the EN process is initiated, and families’ experience of the scheme. Read about the change to the process [[link removed]].

Maternity Incentive Scheme: Year 6 guidance [[link removed]]

New guidance for the Maternity (and Perinatal) Incentive Scheme (MIS) Year 6 was published on our website on 2 April. Trusts were emailed on 2 March with an overview of the revised guidance. Find out more [[link removed]].

[[link removed]] Case of note: Lewis-Ranwell v. G4S Health Services (UK) Ltd., Devon Partnership NHS Trust and Devon County Council (Court of Appeal 16 February 2024) [[link removed]]

In this case the court considered a civil claim in negligence on the behalf of a claimant who was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, where the defendants sought to strike out the claim on the ground of illegality. Read more about this case [[link removed]].

We recently held a webinar on perspectives on delivering health in the prison and justice system. Our Safey and Learning team are hosting four virtual forums, each focused on a different element linked to learning from general practice claims to improve patient care. Recruitment of Associate Advisers [[link removed]]

We are welcoming applications to join the Practitioner Performance Advice Service in an ‘as and when’ capacity, as an Associate Adviser for Education. These roles will be focused on delivering educational programmes that build knowledge and capability in handling complex practitioner performance cases. Primary Care Appeals: information for commissioners and contractors [[link removed]]

Our Primary Care Appeals service recently launched a new information webpage providing a clear overview of its remit to commissioners of primary care services and primary care contractors.
