Safe at Home (Thanks to Fossil Fuels)

What to Know: Residential energy demand is surging due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The TPPF Take: We have plenty of power to get us through the crisis—thanks to fossil fuels.

“As most of the country self-quarantines, it’s more apparent than ever how intimately entwined our lives are with the availability of electricity,” says TPPF’s Katie Tahuahua. “COVID-19 should make the paramount importance of affordable, reliable electricity clearer than ever. And that means fossil fuels.”

School Daze

What to Know: It’s not just here; COVID-19 is affecting education worldwide, as a billion schoolkids have seen their schools close.

The TPPF Take: The pandemic shows that education must be innovative.

“Innovation and educational options are two sides of the same coin. Whether it’s the option to attend a high quality online public school, a STEM-focused charter school, or educate kids at home, educational innovation comes on the heels of educational options,” says TPPF’s Austin Griesinger. “As we continue to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak, the most important thing we can do is continue to adapt and to learn. That should apply to how we educate our kids, too.”

Representing All Women

What to Know: A record number of conservative women are running for Congress in 2020.

The TPPF Take: For too long, the voices of conservative women have been ignored.

“In recent years, the left has been the dominant voice for American women, leaving conservative women feeling more unheard and frustrated than ever before,” says TPPF’s Shelby Sterling. “Of the 127 women serving in the 116th Congress, only 21 are Republican — meaning that there are five times more left-leaning women serving in the United States Congress. That’s changing.”
