Herbert,
This past week has been incredibly challenging in so many ways, and I just wanted to take a moment to reach out with a quick update on where we’re at with the Francis Scott Key Bridge operations and provide some resources you can use to help those impacted.
Operations remain underway to clear wreckage from the channel and disassemble the remaining parts of the bridge so that we can open up the shipping channels to the Port of Baltimore and work towards rebuilding the bridge.
You can stay up-to-date on these operations from Unified Command at: keybridgeresponse2024.com
The Biden-Harris administration has also announced $60 million in emergency relief funds to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts to help reopen the Port of Baltimore.
Throughout all of this, our main priority has remained focused on supporting those who have been impacted by this accident and continuing to provide solace and grace during this unimaginable time.
Those interested in helping support those impacted may make a donation to one of the following funds:
- Baltimore Community Foundation Key Bridge Emergency Fund ([link removed])
- Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs ([link removed])
- United Way of Central Maryland ([link removed])
In addition, you can continue to find more information and resources on Baltimore County’s website here. ([link removed])
We will not let this tragedy define us, and we will not let this collapse divide us.
We know that we have a long way to go, but we’re a resilient community.
We always show up and we always take care of each other.
In service,
Johnny O
