Building Blocks of Progress April is Financial Literacy Month, and the Bill of Rights Institute has just the resource for you! Our

Building Blocks of Progress curriculum covers the role of individuals, government, and economic principles in creating a free society. BRI partnered with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University to create this resource, which offers six lessons, and each one is embedded with a Hoover Institution video.

After reviewing

Building Blocks of Progress , students will understand the relationship between prosperity and other factors, including scarcity, price, the understanding of the role of constitutional government in promoting economic prosperity, as well as how prosperity is affected by government roles and free speech.

May Deadline Approaches For MyImpact Challenge Submissions The deadline for students to submit their

MyImpact Challenge entries is a month away! Are your students ready to present theirs?

MyImpact Challenge submissions must be submitted and received by 11:59 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 19. Students are eligible to receive prizes of up to $10,000, with a total of $40,000 in prizes available for students and teachers.

Have Your Students Think The Vote!

Think The Vote question looks at the Boston Port Act of 1774. It was passed by the British Parliament in response to the Boston Tea Party in December 1773, when a group of colonists boarded ships owned by the British East India Company and threw hundreds of chests of tea into Boston Harbor in protest.


Supporters of the Boston Port Act argue it was a reasonable measure designed to uphold justice and protect property rights. Critics claim it was an unjust act that violated the property rights of the colonists by closing off their trade.


So was the Boston Port Act justified? Students can submit their responses to this

Meet Allison Chaney!
Allison Chaney’s proudest moment as a teacher comes every single day when she witnesses her students’ excitement for learning. It reminds her of the investment her own teachers made in her education.

Chaney teaches AP Government and Politics, Geography, and U.S. History at Washington High School in Washington, Mo., and she holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in educational administration.

The Fellowship is

a 9-month program designed to empower educators to deepen their understanding of civics and civic education through philosophical inquiry and innovative teaching methods.


Teachers will receive $2,000 to participate in professional development, philosophical discussions, curriculum development, and community engagement. This promotes teachers’ reflective commitment to civil society among their students.
