Disturbing news continues to come out of Gaza: while reports indicate the Israeli military obliterated Al-Shifa Hospital and killed more than 300 Palestinians in its siege of the medical complex, 7 international aid workers with Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen were killed by an Israeli strike yesterday.

After Congress and President Biden defunded UNRWA, the largest source of aid for Gaza, groups like World Central Kitchen and ANERA have continued to step in to provide desperately needed food and water to starving Palestinians.

In light of these attacks by Israel’s military, these two organizations just announced they’re suspending their critical work in Gaza out of fear for their workers’ own safety, leaving Palestinians with even fewer options for aid.

Israel is using mass starvation as a weapon of war. Famine is imminent in Gaza, with more than 1 million people at risk of man-made starvation. Israel’s far-right government is manufacturing this by blocking aid trucks and targeting critical aid organizations through violent means.

We cannot sit idly by. An estimated 33,000 Palestinians have now been killed since last October, and more than a million are at grave risk of malnutrition and starvation.
