Dear John,

Zakat is a cornerstone of Islam. Generosity and giving alms is not only an Islamic value but is also ingrained into our American Muslim identities. Surah At-Tawba teaches us that "Zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakat] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise." Surah At-Tawba 9:60

Amidst the myriad of global challenges, why consider donating to MPAC?

As Muslims we are instructed to give Zakat to the poor and needy but also to those who are working in the cause of God, those who are bringing hearts together for Islam, and freeing those in bondage. Through our work, MPAC engages decision-makers and opinion shapers in government, media, law enforcement, and Hollywood to build bridges of understanding and promote accurate portrayals and policies involving Islam and Muslims.

We have taken the lead on speaking on behalf of the oppressed and voiceless across the globe, including our brothers and sisters in Palestine, and advocating on behalf of those facing bigotry and hatred in the US. With much-needed aid to Palestine facing obstacles in reaching across Israeli blockades, our foremost duty as American Muslims lies in urging US representatives to call for a permanent ceasefire and end the ongoing genocide. As Israel propagates misinformation, MPAC diligently counters its narrative, engaging in grassroots activism in Washington D.C. and nationwide campaigns such as our billboard initiative, educational teach-ins, and support for our students on college campuses. Your gift enables us to amplify our advocacy efforts and effect tangible change.

By supporting MPAC’s work with your zakat, you are directly fulfilling the duty of softening the hearts and minds of fellow Americans with an accurate understanding of Islam as well as helping free those under oppression. By making your zakat-eligible, tax-deductible gift today, you are helping the American Muslim community #MarchForwardTogether.
