John,
Earlier this year, the House overwhelmingly passed the expanded Child Tax Credit, which would benefit 16 million children in lower-income families and lift 400,000 children out of poverty in tax year 2023, rising to 500,000 in 2025. With many families struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads, they are counting on the Senate to pass bipartisan tax legislation ASAP.
So, why are some Senators seeking to kill the bill?
Some think they can get a tax package with more corporate tax breaks and a weaker CTC in the next Congress. And some simply don’t want to give President Biden a legislative victory on an issue he has consistently championed.
Today, the Coalition on Human Needs is joining our allies in a Child Tax Credit National Day of Action. Just last week, we sent over 16,000 messages directly to Senators to pass the expanded CTC. Let’s keep the pressure on!
Click here to send a message directly to your two U.S. Senators urging the Senate to stop delaying, and to pass the expanded Child Tax Credit ASAP so millions more low-income families can claim the full CTC this tax season.

Senators who are blocking passage of the expanded CTC are completely out of touch with the needs of low-income and working families who are struggling to afford basic needs.
We need Congress to act by the end of April to make it easier for people to receive a higher CTC as soon as possible. That’s why we are holding Senators accountable to take up this bipartisan tax package now.
Take action today and send a message to your Senators to stop delaying and pass the expanded Child Tax Credit that was passed in the House with a bipartisan vote of 357-70.
Thank you for holding Congress accountable to the needs of the American people.
