Friends,
If you’re reading this email, you probably know who I am (if not… hi, I’m Tim!).
But since I’m running to continue representing Virginia in the U.S. Senate — and since I regularly ask for your support in this effort — I want to take a moment to tell you more about who I am, what I stand for, and what’s at stake in the race this year .
Growing up, my dad had an iron-working shop that my brothers and I helped out in. Sometimes, I had a fun day planned on a Saturday morning, but I would hear my dad come to my room, wake me up, and say he had a big order he needed to fill. A family business meant we were all going to pitch in.
In that business, I learned what a strong work ethic is — and I also saw the power of career and technical education. I grew up seeing all of these great ironworkers doing incredible work. That stayed with me.
After high school and college, I went to law school. Some of my classmates were discussing how much money they could make on Wall Street, and even though I didn’t know much about that, I knew it wasn’t the route for me. So I took a year off to volunteer with missionaries in Honduras.
When I got there, my mentor asked what I could do, and I told him I was a law student — he told me that was useless. I told him about working in my Dad’s ironworking shop. He said, “ Okay, now we’re talking. ” He had just started a school to teach carpentry to teenagers, and I got to add a welding class and a night school for adults.

To me, that’s how you stand up for people — by serving others, investing in people, and leaving a community better than you found it.
These are still the same values I carry with me today. We are in a time where we need leaders who will stand up for people — not those who want to tear us apart and tear us down.
I’m in Richmond today officially kicking off my re-election campaign, and I want everyone who’s following the 2024 elections to really hear this:
Now is the time for ALL of us to stand up for democracy, stand up for economic opportunity for all, stand up for affordable health care, stand up for our environment, stand up for reproductive freedom, stand up for voting rights, stand up for a dignified retirement, stand up for public education and educators.
This November, those who’ve been standing up for all those things and more will be facing opposition from an extreme Republican party that wants to tear our progress down — and tear us apart.
Together, we have to prevail over the far-right extremists and deliver resounding victories for our country.
If you’re with me on this, I hope you’ll consider pitching in whatever you can to my re-election campaign to help me get it done. [[link removed]]

I’ve got eight GOP opponents, and no matter which one of them ends up on the ballot this November, it’s clear this election will be a showdown between standing up, and tearing down.
We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, and I’m very thankful to be doing it with you by my side.
Thanks for everything.
