On March 22, 2024, I was proud to vote for the six remaining bills in the Fiscal Year 2024 government funding package. Together with the previous six bill package, I secured $15,622,100 in Community Project Funding for the 34th Congressional District of Texas. Additionally, by passing this final funding package, Congress avoided an unnecessary partial government shutdown and ensured vital funding for our region. That means millions of dollars will flow into South Texas to improve our roads, support local law enforcement, and increase our local economic development. Lastly, this latest package strengthens our national security and our Southern Border with over $500 million to hire an additional 22,000 U.S. Border Patrol Agents and 150 additional U.S. Customs Border Protection Officers.

Last week, I facilitated a meeting between the Rio Grande Valley Sugar Growers, Rio Grande Valley Agricultural Producers, and U.S. State Department officials to discuss the impact of insufficient and unreliable water deliveries from Mexico on our communities and what next steps should be taken to solve this. Rest assured that I will continue to advocate for timely and sufficient water deliveries for South Texas.
My district team also attended events across the community.
