Dear Friend,
Bees are facing a massive global die-off, with beekeepers losing 40
percent of honeybee colonies last winter alone.(1)
And now the Trump administration has just approved a pesticide that EPA
scientists have called "very highly toxic" for bees for use in 11 states,
including California.(2)
As long as Trump is president, it's up to states and local governments to
protect the bees, and California has led the fight to stop the use of
bee-killing pesticides. Will you chip in $5 to help fight
back?
[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll donate $5 to help save the bees.
Bees are pollinators that help bring us one out of every three bites of
food we eat, and they are critical to the entire ecosystem.(3)
But we are rapidly losing these precious pollinators at an alarming rate.
We've lost nearly two-thirds of the honeybee hives in the last 70 years,
with the largest decline happening in the last decade.(4) And evidence has
piled up proving that widely used pesticides such as neonicotinoids and
sulfoxaflor are causing colonies to collapse and bees to stop breeding.(5)
Instead of attacking the problem, the Trump administration is working to
cover it up. Trump's USDA shut down the largest study tracking colony
collapse, making it the third USDA study on bees shut down by the Trump
administration.(6)
We cannot allow Trump-approved toxic pesticides to kill our bee
population.
We have a two-step plan to help the bees survive Trump's assault:
1. We're calling on state and local governments to provide protections by
banning bee-killing pesticides, giving bees a lifeline until Trump is
gone.
2. We're building support in Congress among both Democrats and Republicans
for legislation that will stop the use of sulfoxaflor and other pesticides
that are wiping out the bees so that as soon as the next president is
sworn in we’re ready to give the bees the help they don't have now.(7)
