Dear John,
The cancel culture is rapidly spreading!
After less than one week on NBC's payroll, former RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has been fired due to outrage from left-wing talking heads over her conservative viewpoints.
In an email to NBC staff, NBCUniversal Group Chairman Cesar Conde announced they would no longer have Ronna McDaniel as an NBC News contributor and apologized to staff members who felt "let down" by their initial decision to bring on McDaniel.
He said the "initial decision was made because of our deep commitment to presenting our audiences with a widely diverse set of viewpoints and experiences, particularly during these consequential times."
Clearly, NBC's commitment to diversity when it comes to conservative viewpoints is about as deep as a puddle after a passing rain cloud here in DC because they capitulated to the demands of the network's left-leaning personalities -- after just two days!
After the news broke that McDaniel would be joining NBC, Rachel Maddow opened her Monday night show on MSNBC by stating that she found "the decision to put [McDaniel] on the payroll inexplicable" and hoped NBC would "reconsider that decision."
Other NBC hosts stated they believed McDaniel "lacked credibility" because of her past decisions to support former President Donald Trump. However, this objection didn't seem to apply when MSNBC decided to hire former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki after she worked for President Joe Biden, or George Stephanopoulos who worked in the Clinton White House. What makes this case different?
It's the fact that the legacy media does not want conservative, pro-life, pro-family viewpoints to have a voice!
This temper tantrum by NBC's news anchors and commentators and the company's succumbing to internal pressure reveals the extreme lengths the media will go to prevent their audiences from hearing views outside their echo chamber.
Conde's apology for hiring the former chairwoman of a political party that represents approximately half of our country further proves that only left-wing voices are usually allowed to be heard in the legacy media.
But if conservative views are being denied a voice, where are millions of Americans who hold to biblical or conservative views supposed to go for news and commentary?
Family Research Council was one of the first targets of the cancel culture which is exactly why FRC has invested heavily in our own news media platforms. Outlets like Washington Watch and The Washington Stand are essential to ensuring that believers like you can access news and commentary from a biblical worldview. Will you help us reach more Americans with these vital resources?
PARTNER WITH FRC
What took place at NBC is about much more than the former chair of the RNC. This is about the Left's intolerance of any viewpoint that is different than their own.
In her own commentary on McDaniel's joining NBC, former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated, "This isn't about red versus blue. This is about truth versus lies."
But as Ken Blackwell discussed on Washington Watch last week, this is just another example of the Left's "doublespeak."
They say that it's "about truth versus lies," but what they're really saying is that conservative or biblical viewpoints are "lies" and their own viewpoint is "truth."
And rather than discussing or debating conservative viewpoints, they just work to silence them because it's easier than addressing them factually!
When I first came to FRC over twenty years ago, I was on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews almost weekly. Those with different viewpoints used to debate. Now, under the cancel culture, debate and discussion are completely wiped away, which poses grave danger for our country's future.
The capitulation of NBC News leadership to Rachel Maddow and others shows that the cancer of the cancel culture has metastasized and is aggressively spreading throughout the legacy media.
If it is not stopped, it will continue to spread until it has killed free speech in America.
Enough is enough!
Part of the reason why the legacy media wants to make sure you only hear the voice of the Left is so that those who hold to conservative or biblical viewpoints -- like you and me -- feel like we are all alone. But this is a lie!
There are millions of Americans just like us who do not agree with the Left's radical ideology that promotes the killing of unborn life, the mutilation of our children, the erasure of the biblical definition of marriage, and the removal of God from the public square.
It must stop, and Family Research Council is fighting back. John, will you join us?
STAND WITH US
This situation has just further exposed the legacy media's lack of credibility. You either see things their way, or you don't have a voice.
In John 8, Jesus said, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
FRC is standing on the truth of God's Word every day in the heart of our nation's capital and on airwaves across the country as we seek to defend the faith in public policy and our culture.
All of this is made possible because faithful Christians like you decided that they were tired of their voices being silenced. Will you help us ensure that our vital work continues?
Together, we can stand up against the cancel culture and be a voice for truth in our nation.
