House Armed Services Committee Update

The House Armed Services Committee had a packed schedule last month with hearings that included various Department of Defense leaders to discuss our military's posture around the globe and the national security challenges facing America.

Special Operations Command Hearing:

Special Operations Forces are on the tip of the spear all over the globe to keep this country safe. Any cuts to our special operations capabilities will be a huge mistake that will prove detrimental. As the House Armed Services Committee begins writing the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, we must provide the resources necessary to support our Special Operations Forces! Thank you, General Fenton, for providing your expert insight into the negative impact these proposed cuts will have on our military!

Central Command and Africa Command Hearing:

China, Iran, and Russia recently conducted a massive security exercise in the Gulf of Oman, perilously near our military installations in the region. Our adversaries

and allies see the horrible position Biden's weakness has put our world in. We must display strength to deter our adversaries and combat the rising Chinese and Russian influence in the Middle East and Africa.

Texas A&M in DC:

Whoop! It’s always great having some extra Aggies up in Washington! The students and alumni from Texas A&M University are truly the best around, and as the only Aggie in Congress, it was a privilege to speak at Aggies on the Hill with students who are going to change the world. I’m proud to be an Aggie and to represent the thousands of Texas A&M alumni in TX-13. Thank you to the Association of Former Students for having me! Gig ‘em!

American Chamber of Commerce in Australia

Thank you, American Chamber of Commerce in Australia, for having me join you for a productive discussion about AUKUS. AUKUS is a critical agreement between the U.S., the U.K., and Australia that’s critical for deterring Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific. We have great partners down under and AmCham is doing their part to make sure we stay on track.

District Spotlight

After fighting the largest wildfire in Texas history for over three weeks, the Texas A&M Forest Service announced on March 16th that the Smokehouse Creek Fire and Windy Deuce Fire are 100% contained. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to those who worked tirelessly to end the relentless destruction of the fires and to those who contributed with their time, money, hay, land, and other resources toward rebuilding the impacted communities. Together, we will continue to stand strong in the face of this hardship, demonstrating the resilience of our communities I am so proud to represent!

Panhandle Wildfire Disaster Resources

I encourage those who need help or are looking to help those affected by the wildfires to visit the Panhandle Wildfire Relief tab on my website, linked here. There is a section that offers information about disaster relief assistance programs, claims processes, and loans that may be available to those impacted by the wildfire here with updated information below.

Xcel Energy

Xcel Energy announced a claims process for those who had property destroyed or livestock deaths due to the Smokehouse Creek Fire. Click here for more details on how to submit a claim.

SBA

SBA disaster loans are now available to businesses and residents affected by the Windy Deuce Fire and the Smokehouse Creek Fire. For more detailed info, click here.

Service Academy Day

The 2024 North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum will be on Saturday, April 6th, at Creekview High School. Representatives from my office will be there to answer any questions. Students and parents are encouraged to attend to learn more about our nation's great military academies! More information below:

Congressional Art Competition

A reminder that my offices are currently accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. All high school students in Texas’ 13th Congressional District are invited to participate. The winner’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. I encourage those interested to participate! More details on the competition can be found here.

Biden Blunder

Joe Biden is constantly slipping up! He can't even complete sentences. The world is watching and laughing at us, we need strength back in the White House! Biden is cognitively unfit to serve as President of the United States and leading our country off a cliff! Please watch the video below and try to figure out what he was trying to say... yikes!
