What a week! Last Monday, Abortion Access Front went to Washington, DC to show and tell the Supreme Court exactly what their legacy will be if they keep up their shenanigans- and the whole world heard our message! AAF designed six different magazine covers that show six different shitty legacies, held smack dab in front of the Supreme Court by some of our INCREDIBLE volunteers. Now the real question: do you think they’ll listen?

Since this case is all about banning an abortion pill, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to make sure every single person who saw our banners will go home knowing how abortion care is managed with abortion pills- no matter what these justices rule! We are leaning hard into our, “We don’t care what you say, we’ll do it anyway,” vibes. We went down to clown with a purpose- hold justices accountable and educate about Anthony Comstock , the monster front and center in this abortion case. This man’s law, the Comstock Act from 1873, IS STILL ON THE BOOKS [[link removed]] and still frighteningly relevant as the law these sexist trash pandas are naturally hinging all of their garbage arguments on.
Listen, this law is 151-years-old, which is exactly 152 years too many; it bans mailing “Obscene Literature and Articles of immoral Use ” through the postal service, and is as relevant as the Zune in my junk drawer. It was time to reanimate Zombie Comstock and introduce him to the nation! We’re both sorry and you’re welcome?
Amidst Comstock cheering on his own law with his creepy modern-day allies and the SCOTUS banners flying high, oral arguments in the mifepristone case actually, somehow, miraculously…seem to have gone well? We’re kind of excited? What is this new feeling we’re feeling?
COMMON SENSE IS BACK??
Sometimes, though, they are their OWN worst enemies, and the Supreme Court made that very clear during oral arguments. Most of the justices were as skeptical of the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine’s claims of legal standing [[link removed]] as we are every time someone says “no one is pro-abortion”. No joke, it almost felt like all of the justices (except Alito, because well…Alito), might have left those oral arguments with the headache from trying not to roll their eyes for the entire 90 minutes. At least we’re all on the same page (except Alito) that this case is PURE NONSENSE.
While there are no guarantees in abortion, we’re feeling good about the potential outcome and energized after time spent with hundreds of badass activists, being loud as hell and taking up space. We are their worst nightmare, and it feels pretty damn good, tbh.

WE’RE ALL COM-STUCK IN THE GILDED AGE
Even through their skepticism, Comstock still rears his puritanical head! Justices Alito and Thomas both referenced the Comstock Act during oral arguments [[link removed]] because we can never have anything nice. When a lawyer for the mifepristone manufacturer was asked how she would respond to the argument that “mailing your product and advertising it would violate the Comstock Act,” we asked Comstock himself if he thought that was good news, and he yelled out “HUZZAH” with his fist in the air, so we’re pretty sure we should all be worried.
