They’re our family, friends and neighbors. The construction worker with high blood pressure who can’t afford medication. The hairstylist with a family history of breast cancer who wants a screening mammogram. The truck driver who previously smoked and knows he should have his lungs checked.
They’re among the hundreds of thousands of hard-working Alabamians who want to stay healthy but are caught in our state’s health coverage gap. They earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, and not enough to afford health insurance.
Closing this coverage gap will be the focus of Arise’s Legislative Day event in Montgomery today. If you plan to attend in person, we look forward to seeing you! If not, you still can join us in speaking out for change today.
Please take a minute TODAY to ask your legislators to urge Gov. Kay Ivey to close Alabama’s coverage gap.
By closing the health coverage gap, we can ensure hundreds of thousands of working families, veterans and small business owners across Alabama can access high-quality, affordable health care and get the medications and treatments they need to stay healthy.
It is more important than ever for our state’s leaders to take Alabama’s health crisis seriously. Call on your legislators to expand health care access in Alabama and close the coverage gap as soon as possible.
It’s time to shift from just talking to taking action. We need to implement solutions to save lives, keep workers healthier and preserve the hospitals and clinics that serve Alabamians every day. We need you to urge your elected officials to do the right thing for our workforce, our economy and our people.
