No images? Click here Dear friend, I hope this message finds you well. For this Sunday, April 7, 2024, which marks World Health Day, we are excited to share our Social Media Toolkit to strengthen our collective voices. The toolkit provides engaging content and impactful visuals that resonate with the theme of this important day, for use by all of our members and partners. How does World Health Day relate to Ending Child Marriage:Child marriage can lead to girls having sex before they are physically and emotionally ready, and when they know little about their own sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Child marriage is a key driver of adolescent pregnancy – which carries serious health risks – and can increase the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections and experiencing gender-based violence (GBV). In some contexts, child marriage is also closely linked to female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), which is a human rights violation and is damaging to girls’ physical and mental health. The theme for this year's World Health Day, 'My Health, My Right,' highlights the critical need to guarantee universal availability of health services, education, and information. It also emphasises the importance of fundamental necessities like safe drinking water, unpolluted air, sufficient nutrition, decent housing, equitable working conditions, environmental preservation, and the elimination of discrimination. By ending child marriage, we contribute to safeguarding the health and rights of girls, protecting them from the harmful consequences associated with early and forced marriages. Inside the Toolkit:
