John,
Do you remember the subjects we were talking about just a month or
so ago?
* Construction crews blasting in Organ Pipe Cactus National
Monument, a UNESCO biosphere reserve that is also home to
cultural sites and grounds sacred to the Tohono O'odham
people.
* The 2 million acres that were, until two years ago, part of
Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments
going on the auction block, to be sold to the highest bidder and
drilled and mined for short-term profit.
* Full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund not being
approved - without which, public lands projects across the
country, from national parks to community gardens, would be at
risk.
Now more than three-quarters of Americans have been directed to
stay in their homes, and the reality of this virus is brutal for our
communities.
Rest assured, though, COVID-19 has not slowed down The Trust for
Public Land.
Our various projects to conserve land are moving forward. Our
Federal Affairs team in Washington is working on legislation to
provide an incredible $900 million to fund land conservation. Our
staff across the country continue to engage communities -
virtually, rather than in person - as we plan and create parks
and playgrounds to ensure that every American has a great outdoor
space close to home.
Our work is more important now than ever before, and because
resources are often uncertain in times like these, our supporters are more important than ever before.

Today I'm writing to our most dedicated supporters to take the
next step and join the cause right now.

John, in these difficult times, the survival of non-profit organizations such
as The Trust of Public Land depends on the generosity of our members
and supporters like you. I hope I can count on you to help keep our
vital work going.
Your thoughts are probably - and understandably -
centered on the pandemic right now. But I'm sure your love of
America's public lands has not been diminished by current
events. At a time when many of us are feeling helpless, this is a
chance for you to take an action that makes a difference.

Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Kim Elliot
