Dear  john ,

I hope that you and your family are well and enjoyed a restful and blessed Easter weekend.

In a week, Congress will return to Washington to commence the impeachment trial against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. I look forward to bringing you the latest updates. For now, it’s great to be back in North Carolina, where I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of you. If you visit Washington this spring, my office stands ready to assist you with tickets and tours

I'm wishing the NC State Wolfpack luck in the Final Four. It was great to have three North Carolina teams in the Sweet Sixteen this year, but as a UNC alum myself, I’ll admit that I was rooting for the Tar Heels to go all the way. Maybe next year!

Biden’s Border Crisis – The Latest on the Catastrophe

The border numbers are out for February 2024 – Biden and Mayorkas continue to outdo their own lawlessness. This February saw the most illegal alien encounters at the border in decades at 256,094 – not even counting the “gotaways” who evaded detection. Worse yet, our CBP officers encountered 195 gang members at the border, and countless more are in our neighborhoods now.

READ: Border Crisis Startling Stats

CBP has seized 8,112 lbs of fentanyl so far this fiscal year, and there’s no way of knowing how much poison makes it through the border into our communities undetected.

TWEET: I’d say it’s shameful, but he knows no shame.

On February 13, the House voted to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas for brazenly violating our nation’s laws in order to create the border invasion. I proudly voted to impeach in both the Homeland Security Committee and on the House floor.

WATCH: Bishop Speaks in Favor of Impeaching Mayorkas

Speaker Mike Johnson announced that he and the impeachment managers will officially deliver the impeachment articles to the Senate on April 10th. I join my colleagues in calling for the Senate to do its duty and hold a trial.  The American people deserve nothing less.

The Week in Weaponized Government

The pro-censorship advocates and “misinformation researchers” are continuing their crusade against the First Amendment, this time on 60 minutes.

The charade is up. With the help of fearless state attorneys general, outside groups like America First Legal, and my Censorship Accountability Act, the censors will be held accountable in a court of law.

TWEET: Censors run amok

No American wants to be a victim of crime, but we are unfortunately seeing lawless chaos all over the nation, spurred by Biden and the leftists in power at the state and local level. Thankfully, conservative leaders like those in Texas are fighting back.

TWEET: States are standing in the breach as the federal government fuels the ongoing invasion.

Soft on crime policies are wreaking havoc in our great American cities, like NYC while their leaders utilize all of their resources to go after President Trump and their political enemies.

TWEET: It's dangerous and despotic.

Art Competition

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent nationwide and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and each Congressman selects a winner. Winners are recognized both in our district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

Artwork submissions are due to one of our district offices by April 12, 2024.
