John,

Seafood giant Nueva Pescanova plans to dump a million live octopuses a
year into icy tanks, where they'll slowly and painfully freeze to death.
Then sell them to supermarkets.

Our petition to stop this cruelty has ignited a firestorm on social media.
It's gotten over half a million signatures, and a growing number of EU
leaders are voicing their opposition. Nueva Pescanova is starting to feel
the heat – now we need your help to step up our campaign and hit them
where it’ll hurt most: their wallet.

If just 5000 of us chip in, we can launch an investigation into Nueva
Pescanova’s supply chain to unmask the supermarkets planning to sell
torture-farmed octopus products. Then double down on tried and true
winning tactics to keep these products off the shelves and push lawmakers
to ban octopus farming for good.

Can you chip in to stop the world's first octopus torture farm?

The world is paying attention to our campaign! After our petition
launched, EU officials sent a joint letter to the government of the Canary
Islands, urging them to block Nueva Pescanova's plans to open its octopus
torture farm there. Some governments have started to take action too.
In the US, Washington state just became the first place ever to ban
octopus farming – and California is proposing a similar law.

People are outraged, and it's no surprise why. Octopuses are highly
intelligent and sentient beings, capable of complex problem-solving and
social interaction. It's well-documented that they suffer in captivity,
experiencing stress and boredom. Not to mention the physical pain they'd
endure from slowly freezing to death. But we still have time to stop this.

With Nueva Pescanova in the hot seat, we need to dial up the heat now and
make its sure octopus products never make it to supermarket shelves.
Because if Nueva Pescanova can't sell its farmed octopus, it'll have no
choice but to change its plans.

With your help, we can:

* Launch an investigation into Nueva Pescanova’s supply chain to unmask
the supermarkets, like Carrefour, planning to sell mass-farmed
octopus;

* Run targeted ads to rally supermarket employees to help us fight
against farmed octopus products from the inside;

* Deliver media-grabbing actions at flagship supermarket store
locations;

* Pressure governments across Europe to pass laws that ban octopus
farming;

and more!

We've fought – and won! – campaigns like this before. Like when our Ekō
community got KFC to stop buying chicken products from inhumane factory
farms. Our team is ready to go...all we need now is your help to get
started. Can you join us in the fight to stop the world's first octopus
torture farm?

  Thanks for all that you do,
Deborah and the Ekō team
