Yesterday, we celebrated Transgender Day of Visibility to recognize the many contributions and achievements of the transgender and gender non-conforming communities — and affirm their human rights.
But as I write this email, trans rights and trans people are under an unprecedented attack. Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans took to Fox News all weekend long to spew hatred toward our trans neighbors. Hundreds of anti-trans bills have been introduced all across the country.
On the Trans Day of Visibility — and every day — I say to every single trans person: I see you, I hear you, and I will stand with you to ensure that you are protected and given the dignity and respect that all people should have. We will never stop fighting for trans rights everywhere, because trans rights are human rights.
Today, I joined my colleagues in the Congressional Equality Caucus and Transgender Equality Task Force to introduce bicameral legislation recognizing Transgender Day of Visibility. And we won’t stop there. The work for full equality, acceptance, and civil rights protections continues.
I will do everything in my power to protect our trans communities from the hatred of MAGA extremists — but I need support from every corner of our movement. So I must ask: Can I count on you to chip in $3 or more to help strengthen our movement to defeat the GOP and their hate-fueled, anti-trans legislation?
Let’s send a clear message: We stand with the trans community and we will never stop fighting for equal rights for all.
