John --
I am writing to let you know about a celebration that will take place during our upcoming 2024 Advocacy Summit & Lobby Day in Washington, DC.
We will host an awards reception to honor incredible policymakers and leaders in the field. We hope you will join us.
These awards will be named (forever!) in recognition of seven individuals who have shown exceptional efforts and significant contributions to the field of public health, policymaking, and gun violence prevention.
We know how hard the work of violence prevention is, and we know that it is hard to find joy in it. We wanted to celebrate these leaders and award them with lifetime recognition that will be given out each year in their name.
Their sacrifice and commitment to promoting awareness, initiating constructive dialogue through peacemaking, and implementing effective strategies to address the pressing issue of gun violence has inspired many of us, and we think it’s only fitting to name an award after them.
Naming an award in their honor will not only celebrate their accomplishments in the field of gun violence prevention, but also provide a meaningful opportunity to amplify their current work and encourage engagement in the crucial work of saving lives.
Here are the named awards and who will also be the inaugural awardees:
Congresswoman Lucy McBath "Triumph" Policymaker Award
Congressman Horsford "Battle Tested" Policymaker Award
Congresswoman Robin Kelly "Visionary" Policymaker Award
Erica Ford Peacemaker Frontline Activist Policy & Advocacy Award
Oresa Napper-Williams Survivor Policy & Advocacy Award
Trevon Bosley Youth Policy & Advocacy Award
Jazmin Cazares Youth Policy & Advocacy Award
