Friend, it's a well-known tradition for senators to carve their names in the drawers of their desks in the Senate – some of which have been around since the early 1800s. It's perhaps a bit less well-known that we also get to choose our desks when we first get elected. Even though they're all technically the same, this was a decision I took pretty seriously.

When I saw the names on desk 88, I knew I had found my Senate home. Including Robert F. Kennedy, Al Gore Sr., and George McGovern, the progressive senators who preceded me at this desk all fought to make our country a better, more equal place. They helped end segregation, protested the Vietnam War, and fought against wealth disparity. Their legacies inspire me to keep fighting for American families and the Dignity of Work.

But the truth is, I'm now in urgent need of your help to keep up this fight.

Our future progress hinges on defending our Democratic majority – which could all come down to my toss-up race in Ohio. The GOP knows this, which is why Mitch McConnell has named me a top target for defeat, and why GOP special interests are gearing up to spend millions to flip this seat.

I'm committed to continuing the righteous fights of those who sat at desk 88 before me – but I can't do so without your support. So please, will you chip in $5, or any amount that's meaningful to you, to help me win this race and join the fight for our progressive future?
