April is Second Chance Month
President Biden has proclaimed April as Second Chance Month. Join OJJDP and the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in supporting second chances for system-involved youth.
Each year, OJJDP takes this opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to helping youth successfully transition out of the justice system and back into their communities. Throughout April, there will be Second Chance Month webinars and events in collaboration with OJP program offices.
In fiscal year 2023, OJJDP awarded more than $15 million through its Second Chance Act programs to support youth reentry, strengthen community-based youth reentry programs, and provide youth reentry training and technical assistance. OJJDP also awarded more than $4 million to support programs to assist incarcerated parents who have children younger than 18 years old.
