Are you ready for the total solar eclipse?
We are! The last time Texas was in the path of totality for a total solar eclipse was in 1397! To celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime event, we have partnered with Hurst Parks and Recreation, NASA @ My Library, the Franklin Institute, and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to bring you a Total Solar Eclipse Extravaganza.
The party is at Hurst Community Park, 601 Precinct Line Rd. on Monday, April 8. It starts at 12:30 p.m., and the eclipse will reach maximum totality at 1:40 p.m. It will look and feel like twilight for almost 3 minutes!
We have a variety of ways to engage in the total eclipse experience, such as
- a range of viewing options, including free eclipse glasses (first come, first served)
- NASA crafts and activities in English and Spanish
- NASA Citizen Scientist opportunities*
You?ll have to wait 20 years and drive to the far northern states to experience totality again in North America, so don?t miss out on this amazing experience!
*Download the free NASA Globe Observer app on your smartphone and use your email to create an account before April 8. During the total eclipse, you can record data, such as land cover, clouds, and air temperature, no matter where you are- no wifi or cell signal is required to record data! Visit https://observer.globe.gov/do-globe-observer/eclipse for more information.
