Dear John,
President Biden is proving to be the most progressive president we’ve had in many years. Now he has released his proposed budget for 2025, and there’s a lot to like in it if you care about fighting income inequality, supporting working people and taking on climate change.
The budget increases taxes on the ultra-rich and corporations, while working families get bigger tax credits. This will help correct some of the more extreme imbalances of the infamous Trump tax scam bill passed by Republicans in 2017.
It’s an election year, so this is the best time to let your Congresspeople know what you support, so they can try to win your vote in November!
Click here to contact your U.S. Representative and Senators and urge full support for President Biden’s budget. You can send a pre-written letter, or you can modify and emphasize some of the specific parts of the budget you like from the bullet points below to make it your own.
Here’s some of the specific highlights from the President’s proposed budget:
-
Reverse the Trump tax scam of 2017, increasing the income tax on multi-billion dollar corporations to ensure they are paying closer to their fair share;
-
Go after rich tax cheats with $100 million in IRS;
-
Eliminate the capital gains and carried interest loopholes for the super-rich, to ensure income from capital is treated in the same way as income from work (a radical notion in support of the working class);
-
Increase both the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit, benefiting working families and those with children;
-
Increase the tax on stock buybacks from 1% to 4%, to encourage the use of funds to improve wages and working conditions instead of to manipulate stock prices to benefit only the most wealthy; and
-
Stop wrecking the planet with huge subsidies for Big Oil companies that are currently making huge profits while depleting the planet’s capacity to sustain the biodiversity of life on Earth, including human beings.
This full complement of interlocking policies has the power to transform the nation’s economy to better produce the common good.
The truth is Wall Street hates this budget. That’s why Congress needs to hear from all of us on Main Street. Sign and send your message to pass Biden’s budget now.
Thank you for everything you do to fight for change.
