Hi folks! Please join us Sat. April 4, to chat with Peter Calthorpe, a revered urban planner who stunned Silicon Valley power brokers by calling SB 50 a truly terrible idea. Amidst COVID-19 turmoil, Peter joins us Sat., 10 am, April 4, to explain why the legislature should halt its divisive housing bills — and to discuss alternative concepts. (Please see teleconference call-in info at very bottom of email.) As we speak, state Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins is leading a team to craft less-divisive housing bills. She didn’t invite her protégé, Wiener! Yet now we hear that Atkins’ team is talking upzoning again! Peter Calthorpe sees a different future, in which housing replaces dead storefronts and mixes into commercial zones. In which neighborhoods AREN’T killed. Until Saturday, we have two big ASKS, RIGHT NOW: 1) GIVE NOW as we raise money we MUST have for lobbyists and expenses of fighting in a hunkered-down, less public Sacramento. We ask that you donate to us, today.
2) ACT NOW against Wiener’s 2020 “Wrecking Bills” that slyly piecemeal SB 50 back into existence! Community-blaming bills for which Wiener is infamous must be killed in this year of economic hardship and threats to our middle-class and working-class. Wiener was wrong BEFORE. He’s DOUBLY wrong now.
Please Zoom in, or call-in on Sat. April 4, 10 am-11:30.

Livable California is a non-profit statewide group of community leaders, activists and local elected officials. We believe in local answers to the housing affordability crisis. Our robust fight requires trips to Sacramento & a lobbyist going toe-to-toe with power. Please donate generously to LivableCalifornia.org here.
