Affordable housing dwelling unit ordinance [ [link removed] ]
County to Hold Public Meetings on Draft Affordable Housing Dwelling Unit Ordinance [ [link removed] ]

In July 2021, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors initiated amendments to the zoning text and county code to create an Affordable Housing Dwelling Unit Ordinance. The ordinance's purpose is to help people with incomes at or below the area median income live in the county while maintaining a basic lifestyle and meeting basic living needs. A draft of that ordinance is now available for public review. The county has two upcoming public meeting opportunities, one in-person on Wednesday, April 3, from 6-8 p.m., and the second is a virtual meeting on Thursday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m. Both meetings are open to everyone interested in learning more and providing feedback. Community input on indoor sports and events center [ [link removed] ]
Prince William County Seeking Input from the Community on Proposed Indoor Sports & Events Center [ [link removed] ]

The Prince William County Sports and Event Center is a proposed large indoor multi-sport and special event facility, that if ultimately approved, will be developed in North Woodbridge. As proposed, the facility would accommodate sports such as track and field, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, cheer, wrestling, football, and soccer, as well as special events such as graduations, trade shows, expos, and corporate and community events. Residents of Prince William County are invited to attend the community meetings on Wednesday, April 10, from 6:30 ? 8:30 p.m. and Thursday, April 11, from 6:30 ? 8:30 p.m. to learn more about the project and provide feedback. If residents are unable to attend the community meetings, they can also provide feedback via the website.?

Area Agency on Aging Events to Prevent Scams and Help Caregivers [ [link removed] ]

The Prince William Area Agency on Aging is hosting two events in April. The first event, AARP 2024 Scam Jam [ [link removed] ] on April 5, will teach those 50 and older how to recognize artificial intelligence scams and tips from the FBI on how to avoid them. On April 6, the agency will host "All In for Parkinson's [ [link removed] ]," a free event for caregivers of people affected by Parkinson's disease. The event will provide information on various treatment options and resources to manage the disease. It will also feature panel discussions and breakout sessions covering a wide range of subjects related to Parkinson's disease. Both events require registration.?

For the second year in a row, homeowners in Prince William County interested in solar energy can take advantage of the Solarize Virginia Program, which helps make the transition to solar easier and more affordable. By registering for the program, homeowners can receive a free solar satellite assessment to ensure eligibility, discounted solar system pricing, access to vetted installers and ongoing support and education. The program runs from April 1 to June 30, and community members interested in installing solar are encouraged to sign up and take advantage of the program while it is available.?

The Prince William County Criminal Justice Services team recently launched the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) tool, designed to determine whether individuals charged with crimes can be safely released back into the community while awaiting trial. Prince William County Executive Christopher Shorter presented the Proposed Fiscal Year 2025 Budget to the Board of County Supervisors during their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024. The budget adoption process will continue in April with a public hearing scheduled for April 9, budget markup on April 16 and budget adoption on April 23.
