Our campaign faced the gauntlet over the past few weeks.

Eric Hovde, Mitch McConnell’s handpicked candidate, finally entered the race.

He immediately spent more than $3 million on campaign ads — a strategy that worked, with a recent poll revealing this race is statistically tied.

Hovde has pledged to spend upwards of $20 million to flip this seat red, and that’s not counting the millions his dark money Republican allies are already spending to attack me.

We needed to respond. Thanks to your support, we were able to.

We launched our first ads of the year in March to make sure Hovde didn’t have the airwaves to himself. It put a dent in our budget, but your generous support helped us make up the gap.

This race isn’t going to get any less expensive, and it won’t be long before we need to make more difficult decisions about spending.
