Clarence Thomas’s wife, Ginni, personally attended the January 6 Stop the Steal rally.

Hi -- We're resending this important email from last week to make sure you didn't miss it. -- Demand Progress

Hi,

Clarence Thomas's wife, Ginni, personally attended the January 6 Stop the Steal rally and pleaded with senior White House staff to help Trump overturn the election in the days leading up to the insurrection.1

And if Special Counsel Jack Smith's criminal prosecution of Trump is allowed to go forward and Ginni Thomas is revealed to have played an even larger role in the insurrection, she could face serious legal trouble.

But now Justice Thomas may have a chance to make the entire case disappear as one of the justices who will rule on Trump's claim of total presidential immunity.2

This is a clear conflict of interest, and Clarence Thomas must recuse himself. If he doesn't, then it's imperative that the U.S. Congress impeach and remove him from the Supreme Court.

Clarence Thomas's corruption is so well documented at this point that he's become a punch line on late-night TV.3

He's taken millions of dollars' worth of gifts, luxury vacations, and sweetheart real estate deals from right-wing mega-donors — gifts that apparently began after he threatened to quit the court and hand his seat to a Democrat during the Bill Clinton presidency.4

In return, he's been a rock-solid vote on the Republican side of cases including Roe v. Wade, Citizens United, and Bush v. Gore.5

Last year, the Supreme Court responded to concerns about Thomas and other justices' corruption scandals by issuing a voluntary and unenforceable code of ethics that said justices would recuse in cases where there's a conflict of interest.

But Thomas still refuses to step aside, even in a case that could implicate his own wife in Trump's criminal scheme to overturn the 2020 election.

Demand Progress has mobilized over 100,000 people to demand ethics reform and accountability at the Supreme Court. Now, with our future of our democracy on the line, we must demand that Clarence Thomas recuse himself from the January 6 case. And if he doesn't, he must be impeached.

Will you donate $10 to help Demand Progress Action push for Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from the January 6 case and push for other key reforms?

With gratitude for all that you do,

The team at Demand Progress Action
