John,

If you only have 30 seconds to spare, read this:

In a move that feels like a slap in the face to all of us who care about our planet's future, the U.S. House voted on March 22 to repeal the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). This action is a handout to the oil and gas industries, and we are deeply disappointed by that vote.

In response, we are sending thank you letters to all representatives who held their ground and supported the GGRF, and sending a stern letter of concern to those who sidelined this essential climate investment.

Did Your Rep. Vote to Protect or Repeal the GGRF?

If you have two minutes to spare, read this:

On March 22, the House passed H.R. 1023 and H.R. 1141 to repeal the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) and the Methane Emissions Reduction Program (MERP).

The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is set to unlock billions of dollars in financing for clean energy projects for communities across the country. For too long, disadvantaged communities have grappled with pollution and poverty without access to solutions. The GGRF would finally provide the resources needed to reduce pollution, mitigate climate impacts, and create green jobs.

Instead of providing those most impacted with the solutions they need and deserve, the House has voted to cut local community funds for green financing and do away with a polluter tax. This is not only morally wrong but also a giveaway to the fossil fuel industry. The repeal not only stalls progress in our environmental efforts but also reflects a misalignment with the urgent needs and desires of the community.

Despite the repeal, we must take a moment to acknowledge our climate allies and thank the representatives who supported the GGRF. A simple thank you can go a long way in showing our appreciation for such forward-thinking leadership and encouraging continued support for environmental initiatives. And in this uphill battle of protecting our climate legislation, we need all the supporters we can get.

The opposite goes for those who voted against the GGRF. We must express our collective dissatisfaction and urge them to reconsider their stance. This letter of concern demonstrates that their constituents demand and deserve better leadership on environmental issues.

But are we just going to sit back and watch one of our only chances against pollution disappear? No way!

We’re preparing a GGRF plan of action at this very moment. We’ll keep you updated on what part you can play in the effort to safeguard this monumental program.

In solidarity,
— Dream.Org
