** The Tyranny of Control.
------------------------------------------------------------
Las Vegas Review-Journal ([link removed]) (3/28/24) commentary: "The new EPA emissions rules, part of the administration’s climate change policy agenda, would drastically limit the availability of traditional vehicles. While Biden political allies claim, 'It’s not a ban on gas cars,' the rules would mean gasoline-powered cars can make up no more than 30 percent of auto sales by 2032. Last year, fewer than 8 percent of new cars sold in the United States were EVs. The goal of the tailpipe emissions rule is to get that to nearly 60 percent — not including hybrids — in just eight years. This will 'require an increase in sales of electric vehicles that is far beyond the consumer interest we are experiencing at our dealerships,' according to EV Voice of the Customer, an industry group representing 5,000 auto dealers... 'This regulation is another example of President Biden’s assault on the middle
class,' said Thomas Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research and the American Energy Alliance. 'The American people should be free to choose the types of cars and trucks that make the most sense for them. This administration wants to take away that choice by forcing Americans into specific vehicles preferred by government agents at the EPA.'"

** "The Environmental Protection Agency chose Good Friday to roll out its burdensome electric truck mandate, no doubt so fewer people notice. Biden officials well know the damage they are doing, but the damage in the name of climate change is the point."

The U.S. produced more crude oil in 2023 than any nation at any time despite over 200 legislative roadblocks imposed since the last presidential election.

** Ed Ireland Substack ([link removed])
(3/30/24) writes: "The Energy Information Administration recently reported that crude oil production in the United States achieved a historical record: 'The United States produced more crude oil than any nation at any time, according to our International Energy Statistics, for the past six years in a row. Crude oil production in the United States, including condensate, averaged 12.9 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2023, breaking the previous U.S. and global record of 12.3 million b/d, set in 2019. Average monthly U.S. crude oil production established a monthly record high in December 2023 at more than 13.3 million b/d. The crude oil production record in the United States in 2023 is unlikely to be broken in any other country in the near term because no other country has reached a production capacity of 13.0 million b/d. Saudi Arabia’s state-owned Saudi Aramco recently scrapped plans to increase production capacity to 13.0 million b/d by 2027.' This achievement is especially notable
because record oil production was achieved despite the Biden Administration's all-out war on U.S. oil and natural gas. While some of the anti-energy industry Executive Orders President Biden took starting on day one of his administration are well known, it is astonishing that such actions total over 200."

That Hertz.

** CNN ([link removed])
(3/18/24) reports: "Trouble and turmoil continue at rental car company Hertz. The company, which announced in January it was selling 20,000 of the electric vehicles in its fleet, or about a third of the EVs it owned, is now replacing the CEO who helped build up that fleet, giving it the company’s fifth boss in just four years. The company announced that Stephen Scherr, who came to the company two years ago after nearly 30 years at Goldman Sachs, is stepping down at the end of this month. He’ll be replaced by Gil West, former chief operating officer of Delta Air Lines and General Motors’ Cruise unit."
