*Critical minerals recycling grant opportunity for 2024*

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) announces its Critical Minerals Recycling Grant Request for Proposals (RFP). [ [link removed] ]
EGLE is offering $4.75 million in matching grants to support Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s climate priorities. Average individual grant awards will range from $500,000 to $2.5 million. A minimum 20 percent match is required. The RFP seeks to advance the research, development, or demonstration of concepts or projects intended to create innovative and practical approaches to increase the reuse and recycling of electric vehicle batteries and other battery storage units containing critical minerals.
*Program Priorities*
* Research into the reuse of critical minerals for clean energy production through circular economy efforts to capture and reuse critical minerals.
* Research, development, or demonstration of projects that recycle critical minerals from electric vehicle batteries and other battery storage units.
*Tasks*
* Support research into the reuse of critical minerals for clean energy production.
* Create innovative and practical approaches to increase reuse and recycling. Report progress on a quarterly basis to EGLE.
* Create measurable and defined results.
*Eligible Applicants*
Any Michigan public or private colleges or universities that grant baccalaureate degrees and that are studying the opportunities to recycle, innovate, and maximize the use of critical minerals from electric vehicles and other battery storage units, may apply. Preference will be provided to those institutions who have partnerships with entities involved in the research, development, or demonstration of concepts or projects intended to create innovative and practical approaches to increase the reuse and recycling of batteries and other critical minerals.

The deadline for the Recycling Infrastructure Grant RFP is *May 24, 2024*.
