Mike Green Former Michigan Senator Mike Green passed away on Thursday afternoon following a battle with lung cancer. Green was the primary sponsor of Michigan’s 2000 shall-issue concealed carry law, an early proponent of MCRGO, and a past MCRGO Board member. The family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Avram Funeral Home, and 10-11 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Landmark Baptist Church, 701 Field Rd., Clio MI 48420. MCRGO Spring Board Meeting Summary Thursday, March 28, 2024 REPORTS: December Board Meeting Minutes are approved. Membership Report: 11,552 members as of 3.27.24, an increase of .16% from December 2023. Steve Dulan provided a confidential legal update to the Board. The Board approved funding for an amicus brief in Mexico v. Smith & Wesson. OLD BUSINESS: The Upper Peninsula Picnic will be held at the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club in Pelkie on 9.7.24. The Fall Firearms Festival will be held at the Fin & Feather Club of Mason County on 9.21.24. Cat Collige, Bill Karczewski, and Lamonte Suave Bascomb are appointed to MCRGO-PAC 2024 as the Democrat, Independent, and Republican respectively. Existing members without email addresses on file will continue to receive the printed On Target quarterly newsletter. Those members without email addresses on file who did not reply to the February mailing will be given one last opportunity by mail to opt in. No new names will be added to that list. MCRGO will provide padded chairs, voter registration forms, and (potentially) a credit card processing device for future events. NEW BUSINESS: MCRGO's new accountant is Tammi Redman at Page Accounting in Irons, Michigan. The minimum class requirement for instructor recertification is suspended indefinitely. MCRGO will order lapel pins to be distributed to members at no charge only at MCRGO in-person events. MCRGO is exploring the possibility of replacing PayPal with a pro-gun payment processor such as GunTab. However a number of practical factors need to be resolved first. NEW LEGISLATION: MCRGO SUPPORTS SB 689. MCRGO takes NO POSITION on HB 5450 and HB 5451. MCRGO OPPOSES HB 5453. MCRGO SUPPORTS HB 5454 and HB 5455. MCRGO is NEUTRAL on HB 5467, HB 5468, and HB 5469.
