Drone footage of nickel mining, surrounded by trees, in Halmahera, Indonesia

John,

A horrific mine in Indonesia is decimating pristine rainforest, stripping land from local families, and pumping fish-killing waste into the sea … and Tesla and Volkswagen are buying up the mine’s nickel anyway.

We can make them fix the damage.

Hardly anyone knows these global car brands are driving this disastrous mega-mine – and the details are mired in murky trade deals. If enough of us chip in, we can hire a crack team of investigators to expose Tesla and Volkswagen’s nickel connections – then target them with a hard-hitting campaign, including public-facing, brand-threatening ads that demand justice.

Elon Musk and co. have the power to radically change the outlook for this precious place – demanding the mine restore degraded land, and pay locals compensation. But they won’t act unless we put them in the spotlight. Right now car companies really care about their green image, so let’s expose the truth – and push them into action. Can you help protect Indonesia’s rainforest?

IWIP is a nightmare – a sprawling mining and processing project on the Indonesian island of Halmahera that has already destroyed thousands of hectares of forest, turned clear rivers brown and devastated Indigenous communities.

It’s also a climate killer, with ELEVEN dedicated coal-fired power stations – and 3 more coming! Eventually, they’ll burn through more coal than a country like Spain.

These car companies know that their futures rest on being seen to be green – this is the kind of reputational damage they really want to avoid. That’s why hard evidence tying them to ruinous nickel mining, followed by a publicity surge, could be so effective at winning change for the communities and animals who depend on this forest. But we can’t do it without you.

Can you chip in now to help protect pristine Indonesian rainforest from destructive mining?

Thanks for all that you do,
